Aberdeenshire Council is asking for input on options for tackling local parking challenges at Braemar Mews as well as the possible option for new public space.
There is a requirement to allow coaches to drop off visitors in the town centre and park off site and a need to create additional controlled car parking spaces for visitors within Braemar.
Since 2018, the local authority has been in discussion with the local community to identify the key issues and potential solutions, reaching the conclusion that Balnellan Car Park should be reviewed and further car parking provided, with possible room for an additional 10 parking spaces identified.
At Braemar Mews, the coach park has recently been utilised as a drop off, with coaches then parking at the Highland Games Centre. Designers have been looking at a more formal drop off points, catering for two coaches whilst also allowing car parking. This, however, would have significant costs attached due to the Mews being within a conservation area.
Aberdeenshire Council is also looking at options for enhancing the landscape around Braemar Mews to make the space more attractive and accessible.
Due to limited grant funding and budget available, options need to be carefully weighed up to ensure that the most effective solutions are implemented. Aberdeenshire Council is therefore seeking views on the options identified. Click here
