significant road infrastructure investment

Improving accessibility to the region

One of Scotland's largest infrastructure projects is currently underway in the Aberdeen City Region. The £745million Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route/Balmedie to Tipperty (AWPR/B-T) road, when finished, will help to reduce congestion, cut journey times, improve safety, and lower pollution in the City Centre.

Due to open in 2018, the new road will be 58km long and is being delivered by Transport Scotland on behalf of the Scottish Government and in partnership with Aberdeen City Council and Aberdeenshire Council.

The AWPR/B-T project is expected to bring in an additional £6billion to Scotland's North East economy and create around 14,000 jobs over the next 30 years, including more than 1,000 jobs for the construction industry. There will also be tangible benefits for the business community and road users with better journey time reliability and reduced congestion.

Keep up to date with this major project which is transforming regional connectivity.
