Why Aberdeen?

A region of innovation and opportunity.

The Aberdeen City Region consists of Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire. We are a diverse corner of Scotland, ranging from mountains, to coastline, to urban landscape.

Our investment portfolio spans dozens of major projects that are due to be completed over the next decade, marking an exciting time to join this ambitious region. Our investment pipeline will create an energised, connected and revitalised region; one that offers an unparalleled experience for residents and visitors alike.

The Aberdeen City Region is at the forefront of the global energy transition, leading the world on a rapid shift to net zero by leveraging the region’s unique assets and capabilities. We are home to the £180mil Net Zero Technology Centre and we are one of the most attractive locations in Europe to develop and accelerate low carbon projects and activities, particularly offshore wind.

Investment in culture and heritage continue to play a critical role across the region, with a £20mil award from the UK Government’s Levelling Up Fund going towards the refurbishment of Macduff’s Marine Aquarium and the development of a cultural quarter in Peterhead. Work is also progressing on the Aberdeen City Centre and Beach Masterplan, with Union Terrace Gardens reopening to the public in early 2023.

Port of Aberdeen’s South Harbour expansion was a £420mil investment which will boost the region’s trade and investment opportunities. There are also a number of ongoing projects being delivered through the £1bil+ Aberdeen City Region Deal.

Aberdeen has two world class universities that produce Scotland’s most employable graduates. The pool of educated and skilled workers is high, making it a competitive location to start or relocate a business.
